The Motherload - Part 1

On Tuesday I was finally able to squeeze away from the day job and head over to JB Prince Company to pick up my supplies for ICE! Walking into that store is almost overload. It is inspiring just to LOOK at the tools, implements and serving dishes you can use. That experience alone helped shape up a dinner I am cooking on Saturday for some friends that we have been trying to pin down for MONTHS now! Lookin' at you Craig and Daria!

To tell you the truth, it is a BUNCH of stuff that I should have already bought myself OR have coveted for a long time now. Yes I should have had a zester of some sort and some new tongs but I have gotten along without them, so why buy stuff that will clutter up my little NYC kitchen. Right? As far as the covet goes . . . . HOLY CRAP . . . . who knew a candy thermometer and in-oven thermometer could make a man so happy.

what I am NOT looking forward to is the LABELING! Part of me just wants to get a Dremel and do it by hand, part of me just wants to use a P-Touch and let it go. We will see what this weekend brings. Maybe I will vinyl tape everything. How "former Army" of me. A cryptic sign showing that THIS belongs to ME! If you see one thin red band and one thick red band . . . BACK OFF!

Sunday I am picking up the uniforms and on the first day of class I get my knives and books.

It is closing in. Everyone at the day job asks me CONSTANTLY if I am moving on once I am done with school. Honestly, right now; I am in this for the experience. Maybe I will write a cookbook or 2. Maybe I will try to get on the food network. Maybe I will just be the guy that cooks a fantastic meal for his friends and family. Who knows, but I can not wait to find out!
