New Things Coming...change starts NOW!

There is a new move happening here and this post is going to be the first of that writing.....and GO!

THIS GUY.

I can not tell you how much the songs he wrote changed who I was. This was Tony Sly. Lead singer of No Use For a name. Southern California Hardcore come Pop Punk band that was EXACTLY what I needed. Today, August 1st 2012 he died. No one knows right now WHY, but he is gone.

Sometime in 1993 or 94 I was lucky enough to be drug to a show at the TLA while at the Summer Art Program at the University of the Arts. EVERYTHING CHANGED. Nothing sounded right anymore, life in my redneck town was not good enough and I had a new fire. Punk rock was going to do the driving from now on.

I don't want to get into the Punk/not punk thing. This is what I loved and it never stopped giving. If I was working on an art piece, driving fast, running 20 miles, or showing off to my new buddies in the Army about this band I liked...it was NUFAN. Melodic, fast, pointed, opinionated and intelligent. These guys had something to say and they delivered it the way I wanted to hear it.

Thanks Tony, you and the songs will be SORELY missed.

I all of a sudden want to get a NUFAN cover band together.... I can tell you every album is getting played.

  1. It doesn't matter if it's punk, rock, jazz or ska.... it always amazes me to see how much an impact music can have on a person's life.
